The Sisters attended a Baptist Church...hmmm...??

Hey Y'all


It's been an amazing week here in North Wilkesboro! Sis. Durfee and I are pooped, but it was so rewarding. We have amazing investigators who are doing so well. The cute red headed Speece boys and their inactive mom came to church along with a friend of hers who said he loved church and is coming back next week! The boys are really making good friends and fitting right in. Even the youngest boy who is soooo shy has really opened up with us and is participating a lot. Their grandparents are also doing well. Still haven't made it back to church but they are sure great.

David is doing amazing!!! Love that guy. We taught him the stop smoking lesson last night at the Youngs house with another recent convert who also had to quit smoking. It went awesome. It's a lesson that was developed by missionaries in the 1980's who were serving in Ireland. They had investigators who wanted to get baptized but couldn't stop smoking and they were tired of it! So after much fasting and prayer they came up with this program. It's a 7 day program and the participant follows 15 steps every day. It's so simple. Pretty much you have bells that trigger the desire for a cigarette when your nicotine level lowers, but if you can get rid of any nicotine then you don't have desire to smoke anymore. You drink raw unsweetened grapefruit juice and brush your teeth and rinse with cinnamon mouthwash a lot. Also healthy snacking. The very first step the participant reads a "smoking declaratin of independence" and before David had even finished reading he was scrambling for a pen to sign it! We all started chanting David! David! David! It was awesome! He texted us this morning and said he's doing good so far. Then he called to say that today isn't nearly as hard as he thought it would be! So amazing!!!! Please if you can pray for David to accomplish this so he can get baptized.

Funny story, I went to a Baptist church. It was very interesting. One of the women in our ward has a mother who is a member there and she invited us to the revival. They sang a lot and shouted a lot of "praise the Lord" and "amen", it was really interesting and cool to be there. But not a whole lot of the doctrine and the spirit.

I know the church is true and I love missionary work. It's so rewarding. Missionary work is the most important thing we can do. Share the greatest treasure we have with those around us that we love.
