Less Than a Week!

WOW!  Jord is down to less than one week in the MTC, then it's off to NC!  I can tell she is so excited, except for the sweating part...ha ha She has had another great week with lots to share, but no pictures yet.  Hopefully, they will be coming soon.  I think she is just a little bit busy, what do you think?  :0)

She has a new word she wants everyone to start using, Jandals.  Her companion calls flip flops, Jandals, and Jeurd says it has become quite the new catch phrase.  Also, the "new word on the street is", they might not have to wear "stockings" anymore, another word her companion likes to use.  She says hers keep falling down around her ankles like little old ladies use to wear... ha ha  Little does Jord know that my grandma use to call nylons, stockings all the time and by the end of the day, they were down around her ankles.  She said they may also be able to wear brighter colors and that skirts can be just below the knee.  This sounds great, especially when you are going to a mission with 80% humidity!

She is being well taken care of, not only by our Heavenly Father, but by his special angels there at the MTC.  The Branch Presidency's wives treat them like their own.  They made vases for them out of cups and then bring flowers around to them.  Jord said because of sweet examples like this, she isn't homesick, even though she misses her family and friends.  That is a GREAT thing for a mom to hear!  It makes me feel so much more at peace.

They had a special devotional Sunday night from Sis. Jenny Oaks Baker, daughter of Dallin H. Oaks.  She is an accomplished violinist and attended Juliard.  She spoke and played for them and Jord said it was amazing.  Her parents were in the audience supporting her.  What a neat experience for all the missionaries to have.  Another testimony building experience she had was with teaching an investigator, Arnold.  Jord and her companion were all prepared to teach him about the restoration, but they never even got to that topic.  He wanted to know why two young girls were not dating and getting married, but instead were going on missions.  WoW!  Nothing like putting you on the spot...They told him because Christ loved them so much and had given them so much, they wanted to give back by helping others.  He then wanted to know how THEY REALLY KNEW THAT.  Testimony time!  They both bore their testimonies of personal experiences to him and the spirit was so strong.  He felt it.  Arnold told them that he felt the serenity that they brought to him, and that they had something special.  So cool!!  What a choice experience for them to have.

Well, Jord leaves next Wednesday, July 21, for Charlotte, N Carolina!  She is excited and nervous, which I think is to be expected.  She leaves bright and early, 5 AM, that morning.  It sounds like we might get a call from her at the airport.  YAY!!  I'll be counting the days!  They fly into Fortworth, Texas and then on to Charlotte. She knows she needs to work her "buns" off because there is someone waiting just for her and if she doesn't find them and share the gospel, then who will?  She knows this is the Lord's work and that he is directing her on this path. AMEN to that.

Hopefully, next week around this time Jord will be settled in the mission home in Charlotte, N Carolina, ready to spread the gospel!  Please keep her in your prayers!!
